Making of Bappa X Kalasagar Arts

There are some festivals that we celebrate and then there are some that we feel.

Ganesh Chaturthi has always been the most special time of the year for me. 

Every year, we welcome Bappa into our homes or our neighbourhood with so much love. We attend the आगमन सोहळा. We all wonder how these idols are actually made? How could one see so many emotions in Bappa’s eyes? How do they manage to get the same expressions on his face every year?

This time, we're taking you to one of Mumbai's oldest Ganapati idol-making workshops, where generations of artisans have dedicated their lives to this sacred craft. These artists put lives into clay and transform it into something far greater. Not by machines, but by hands that have practised this craft for generations. 

We'll be walking through the workshop with one of the artists himself, sharing how an idol is shaped, layer by layer, from raw clay to the final details that somehow make Bappa feel alive. It's not just about sculpting. It's about tradition, devotion, patience, and a legacy that has been lovingly carried forward for generations.

What makes this event even more meaningful is that a part of your registration fee will go directly to the artisans as a small gesture of appreciation for preserving this beautiful tradition and keeping this legacy of art alive.
