Artist Kasture is both calligrapher and painter, best known for large calligraphic works in which script moves beyond legibility into gesture, rhythm, texture and abstraction. His practice deliberately treats the written mark as a visual form; in this work, layers of calligraphic strokes, geometric structures and translucent colour create something closer to an inscription as an artistic visual. At just over four feet square, this is a piece that can anchor a large wall on its own; better suited to an open living space than a smaller room where it would compete for attention.
